Procedures We Perform
Based on certain gastrointestinal conditions, some children may need some of the following procedures
- Endoscopies: Endoscopy is a safe, non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that allows your doctor to have visual examination of the GI system using a flexible fiberoptic camera, while the patient is sedated. This also includes a collection of biopsies (tiny tissue samples) to examine under a microscope.
- Upper endoscopy or EGD (Esophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy) – examination of upper GI tract to directly visualize the lining of the esophagus (food pipe), stomach and first part of the small intestine (duodenum)
- Colonoscopy – examination of the lower part of your gastrointestinal tract, including the end of your small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus.
